Mainhull frame 6 and 7 cutouts and reinforcement

frame 7 cutouts provide storage in galley

frame 7 cedar stock for reinforcement and divider and 'ceiling' installation

frame 6 cutouts provide storage in head/shower area

frame 6 cedar stock for reinforcement and divider and 'ceiling' installation

  • the 15"D x 18"H x 70"L space between frames 6 and 7, which sandwich the forward beam, will provide easy access storage space.
  • the space will be divided into 4 separate compartments, 2 for the galley, and 2 for the head area.
  • the 'egg carton style' reinforcement provided by the 'ceiling', 'shelf' and dividers between the frames will more than compensate for any weakening due to the cutouts

Mainhull frame 10 steering and reinforcement

  • cedar stock on the aft face of frame 10 is for dividers and 'ceiling'

Mainhull frame 11 cutouts and reinforcing

these cutouts (not in the plans) will give easy access to the 15"D x 20"H x 70"L storage space between frame 10 and  frame 11, which sandwich the rear beam

  • the forward side of frame 11 has cedar stock reinforcement to compensate for any weakening caused by the cutout - the cedar added weighs about the same as the plywood cut out
  • the 10" high crossbeam fits in the space above the cedar stock
  • 1/4" plywood dividers installed between frames 10/11 will create 4 separate storage spaces, one for each cutout - the dividers will glue into 1/4" slots visible in the cedar stock
  • a 1/4" curved plywood 'ceiling' will be installed on the top of the cedar stock (under the bottom of the beam)
  • a 3/8" plywood 'shelf' will be installed under the bottom of the frame 10/11 top sections, from gunnel to gunnel
  • the dividers, 'ceiling' and 'shelf' will further strengthen the frame 10/11 structure 'egg carton style'
  • the 'ceiling' will provide a water tight seal under the beam and when folded
